IT'S the bike race that makes the Tour de France look like a Sunday stroll.
The Megavalanche is a treacherous 32km scramble that begins almost 3300m on a glacier at the summit of a mountain in the French Alps.
Riders must jostle and battle for position down Alpe d’Huez while avoiding huge rocks and a 1828m vertical drop to the finish line in Allemont.
The event has been running for over 10 years and makes up a series of events known as the Avalanche Trophy.
