From rioting to setting things ablaze, crazed soccer fans have committed countless dangerous acts in recent years. But this one may trump them all.
Fans threw all kinds of objects onto the pitch at an Asian Champions League quarterfinal match between Sepahan FC (Iran) and al-Ahli SC (Saudi Arabia) in Iran, including, of all things, a live explosive.
Watch as Sepahan midfielder Adel Kolahkaj (40) casually tosses the small explosive off the field as though it were a stray beanbag. And the instant it hits the ground, it blows up.
The match, which was briefly halted after the grenade went off, ended in a goalless draw. The account of the match on the Asian Football Confederation Web site makes no mention of the stoppage.
