A 24-year-old woman has admitted to leaving a toddler to drown in the bath as she spent 45 minutes drinking with her neighbour.
Danielle Reeves, from Surrey in the UK, had been looking after the one-year-old who cannot be identified, when she left him in the bath to go next door.
She returned 45 minutes later to find the boy's lifeless body in the water.
Emergency services were called to the scene but the boy couldn't be revived.
Police arrested Ms Reeves on suspicion of gross negligence, believing she was drunk.
Ms Reeve admitted to drinking with the neighbour, but denied being drunk.
She claimed she had left the boy 'just out of sight', but is now changing her plea.
She trembled in the dock as she pleaded guilty to manslaughter, acknowledging she had been negligent to leave the child to die, but continues to deny she was drunk.
Ms Reeve has been released on bail, while a judge receives probationary and psychiatric reports, before she is sentenced later this year.
She has been forced to wear an electronic ankle bracelet and obey a curfew, and is forbidden from approaching a particular home in Surrey, while she is out on bail.
