A ONE-MONTH-OLD boy was found alone in a car seat in the middle of a Phoenix intersection early Saturday after falling from the roof of his mother's car.
The baby's mother, who admitted she had been smoking marijuana prior to leaving her son on the roof of her car, was later booked into jail on aggravated DUI and child abuse charges, myFOXphoenix.com reported.
Officer James Holmes said the investigation revealed that the suspect, 19-year-old Catalina Clouser, and her boyfriend had been smoking marijuana earlier Friday evening at a nearby park.
"The suspect's boyfriend and the suspect, along with her baby, left the park to purchase beer at around 11pm. The boyfriend was stopped by Phoenix officers and arrested for aggravated DUI after he was suspected of, and processed for being impaired while driving with the baby in the vehicle," Mr Holmes said.
According to the police report, officers learned that Ms Clouser was upset over her boyfriend's arrest. She drove to a friend's house and admitted to smoking one or two additional bowls of marijuana with her friends.
Mr Holmes says it appears that Ms Clouser then put the baby on the car's roof and drove off, forgetting he was still on the roof. When she arrived home and found that the baby was not in or on the car, she feared he had fallen from it and realised her mistake.
