A CALIFORNIA woman was awarded a restraining order against the mother of Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester after she claimed the parent threatened her with violence, Radar Online has reported.
Laurel Wiig accused Constance Meester of being an addict and said Ms Constance threatened to "hunt down and kill" both Wiig and her son during a January 21 argument, though scarce details of the explosive altercation were provided in court documents.
Ms Constance was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Ms Wiig in the restraining order granted by a Los Angles judge last week. Ms Wiig claimed to know Ms Constance through their children, who attend school together.
The actress' mother, who serves as manager for her daughter's showbiz career, spent time in federal prison in the 1980s after she was convicted of assisting a drug ring that brought thousands of pounds of marijuana from Jamaica to the US.
Leighton Meester, who plays silver spooner Blair Waldorf on the CW drama, said in a previous interview that she does not cast judgement on her mother's past.
"It made me realise that you can't judge anyone - especially your parents - for what they've done in their past, because people change," she told People magazine back in January 2009.
In addition to her TV career, the 24-year-old actress most recently appeared opposite actress Gwyneth Paltrow in Country Strong and in the 2011 thriller The Roommate.
