A former US nanny is suing her ex-employers after she was allegedly scalded with boiling water by their daughter and forced to take drugs, wear sexy outfits and date her boss’s friends.
Andrea Duncan, 31, said she was treated like a "slave" while working as a live-in nanny for the daughter of a celebrity surgeon and his wife in a luxurious New York apartment for $240 a week.
She was employed to look after their adult daughter who was aged in her 20s and reportedly suffered a number of emotional disorders.
"They treated me worse than Cinderella," Ms Duncan said.
In a lawsuit filed on Friday, Ms Duncan said her ward, Suzanne O'Leary, who is aged in her 20s, threw a pot of boiling water at her for no reason after flying into a rage.
She claimed Ms O'Leary’s mother, Susan O'Leary, prevented her from seeing a doctor.
Instead, Ms Ducan said Mrs O'Leary advised her to self-medicate with an amphetamine–based psychostimulant and wine, and to apply aloe.
Ms Duncan said the socialite mother threatened to fire her if she complained about the burns that left her "permanently disfigured".
