TALK about your low-budget wedding plans: a newlywed Pennsylvania couple was arrested after allegedly shoplifting more than $US1000 worth of groceries they planned to serve at their reception.
Arthur Phillips III, 32, and Brittany M. Lurch, 22, both of Centre Hall, were picked up last Sunday after allegedly loading their Wegman's supermarket cart with some $US1049.26 worth of items and then leaving the store without paying, the Centre Daily Times reported today.
The couple, who wed on August 18, told police they planned to serve the goods at their reception on Sunday.
Instead of presiding over the reception, the pair was charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property.
The Times said police also reported they found a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue while searching the couple's car and Mr Phillips was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
